Wind was forecast to drop off in the afternoon so got up early and was at the beach by 10am. And it was howling....guys were going out on 4.0's so the 4.6 came out of the bag for its first outing since Jeri. Sea state didn't look too threatening though - no real big waves and not choppy so hoped I would be OK even if overpowered.

Which I was. OK at the start and had a good first run out, finished off with a clean gybe, but then as I starting getting tired I starting getting spanked as well. After my second big mid-air hooked in catapult I reasoned maybe it wasn't such a good idea to stay out any longer, so limped in and had a short walk of shame back to the car.

Was feeling a bit miffed that conditions were getting the better of me, and didn't want to go home now after such a short session when it was proper windy. But then I remembered that Mudeford harbour is just around the corner. That'll do nicely! Dumped everything in the car and drove round there still in my wetsuit, and within 20 minutes I was back out on the water again.

Waist deep flat water everywhere but still plenty windy enough for the 4.6. Easy life. At the start it was all good and was having a good sail, but after about 45 minutes the wind began to drop off (as forecast) leaving me mucho underpowered. Came in with the intention of changing up, but after half way through rigging the 5.2 decided that the wind had dropped off too much, so gave up and went home.

Annoyingly had some equipment problems. Never really had anything break on me before whilst out on the water (apart from sails)....you wait ages for a bus and then 4 come along at once:
- connecting bit to boom of a harness line - fortunately was able to bodge it
- connecting bit to the board of a footstrap - fortunately had a spare footstrap in the car
- UJ tendon is looking a bit ropey. Grrrrr might have to pay the extortionate £50 for a new one/
- some stickers came off the 4.6, revealing old Jeri tears. Was sort of expecting that to happen.
Fortunately none of these things stopped me from sailing today though.
